Become a Member
We believe that education and access to information is a human right, therefore the core features of our platform are available to all members, free or paid. Our paid tiers have small perks to make it worth your while, but they are essentially just for those who have the means to support us. You can sign up for free, create your account in minutes, and gain access to our social network, forums, member blogs, and more.
Become an Owner!
Want to go further than subscribing? Become a Reader-Member and own this publication alongside us. For $45/year on top of any subscription (including free), you get an ownership stake in The Convergence Lens, a vote in governance decisions, and a share of any surplus we generate.
We believe working-class people should own their media, not just read it. Reader-Member ownership makes that come true.
Submit an Article
Our members get direct access to a member blog in their dashboards, which allows them to post articles to our Community Column. However, if you are a journalist who wants to submit a pitch to our regular publication, we would be honored! You can learn more about this on our submissions page.
Work For Us and Own With Us
We are a worker-member cooperative, which means that the people who do the consistent, ongoing work at The Convergence Lens become owners of it. We’re always looking for people who want to help build with us!
All Worker-Member positions at The Convergence Lens involve:
• Ownership: A $200 capital stake (that you pay over time from wages) which gives you a share in the cooperative.
• Governance: One vote, equal to every other Worker-Member’s, in decisions about how we run this organization.
• Economic participation: A share of any financial surplus the cooperative generates, distributed in proportion to labor.
• Access: Full transparency into the cooperative’s finances, governance documents, and strategic direction.
Our positions are flexible and designed to work around your existing commitments. We’re committed to diversity in our team and we actively encourage applicants from working-class, Black, Indigenous, and other marginalized communities.
Be Part of a Cast or Crew
Our sister organization, Convergence Lens Studios, produces documentary and narrative content. We are looking for filmmakers, subjects, actors, and collaborators who want to help tell stories that center marginalized voices and underrepresented communities. Whether you’re behind the camera, in front of it, or both – we want to hear from you.
Secure Tipline
Want to send us a tip? We have a secure tipline set up with open-source platform Hush Line. It uses end-to-end encryption to send anonymous messages. You can optionally include a secure contact method (Signal number, encrypted email, etc) – we will reach out only if necessary. If your tip includes documents, please send us a message through the tipline first. We will establish contact to vet you first, then provide you with instructions for secure file transfer.
