Art For the People, By the People

We work with creatives who want to see their TV/Film projects come to life without worrying about the burden of Hollywood's typical restrictions, demands, and barriers.

Convergence Lens Studios

Our Mission

The entertainment industry has a representation problem. According to UCLA’s Hollywood Diversity Report, 91% of all show creators in 2024 were White. Among all creators and co-creators of the most-watched scripted television shows, only 12.2% were people of color, and only 22% were women.

Convergence Lens Studios exists to change that equation.

We’re a production company dedicated to amplifying diverse creators and telling underrepresented stories without compromising artistic vision for profit margins or Hollywood norms. We believe that the future of storytelling belongs to creators from all backgrounds, and we want to help make that future a reality.

Our Approach

Creator-Centered Production: We prioritize the vision of diverse creators over industry formulas. Your story matters more than what’s “marketable.”

Community-Driven Development: We involve our audience in the creative process, building work that resonates because it comes from a connection to community needs and desires.

Value-Aligned Storytelling: We center marginalized voices and experiences, treating representation as essential rather than optional. Our work reflects the world as it actually is: diverse, complex, and interconnected.

Independent Infrastructure: As a sister organization to The Convergence Lens, we maintain the same commitment to editorial and artistic independence. No corporate pressure, no watered-down messaging.

Current Projects

The New Hunters

An 8-Episode Horror Mini-Series

The New Hunters is our inaugural production – a fan-made project set in the Supernatural universe that reflects our commitment to diverse storytelling and community-centered production.

Disclaimer: This is an unofficial, non-commercial fan project. It is not licensed or endorsed by Warner Bros., The CW, or any entities associated with Supernatural. This is a volunteer-based production being released for free on our channel, we will not be making any profit off of this.

The Story

The series follows two damaged young hunters whose partnership begins as a reluctant alliance and evolves into something neither expected. Celeste Winchester was taken in by Dean and Castiel after being rescued at fifteen from an abusive monster who stole her from her parents when she was a toddler. She carries the weight of the Winchester legacy while struggling with her trauma and a complicated relationship with her Indigenous heritage. And Daniela ‘Dani’ Jones, turned into a vampire at age fourteen after watching her brother die right in front of her, has spent ten years hunting every member of the nest responsible for his death, sacrificing any chance at a normal life.

Their journey introduces them to Aaliyah and Amari Thompson: Black Appalachian hunters protecting their West Virginia community, Mei Zhang: a Chinese-American tech genius who traded Silicon Valley for supernatural investigations, and Saiya Narula: a hunter versed in South Asian folklore and a proud Tamil woman who embraces her lesbian identity unapologetically.

Core Themes: Found family, redemption arcs, the nature of monstrosity, and reclaiming human identity.

Mythology Focus: The series explores Native American, Appalachian, Black American, and South Asian folklore, centering cultures that mainstream horror typically appropriates or ignores.

Why This Project

According to UCLA’s Hollywood Diversity Report, shows featuring underrepresented stories (including Asian Stories, Black Stories, LGBTQ+ Stories, and Women-Centered Stories) generated higher social media engagement on average than shows without these elements.

Audiences want diverse stories. We’re proving it can be done outside traditional Hollywood structures.

This project will allow us to explore and learn how to best lead a crew on a low-stakes production made up of people who are passionate about how valuable it is to have a show full of diverse voices both onscreen and off.

Our Relationship with The Convergence Lens

Convergence Lens Studios and The Convergence Lens publication operate as sister organizations – separate legal entities that support each other’s missions.

The Convergence Lens (publication): Independent cultural commentary and journalism, operating as a reader-supported nonprofit.

Convergence Lens Studios (production): For-profit production company creating films and series that amplify diverse voices.

Both organizations share core values around representation, artistic integrity, and community-centered work. The publication provides news, cultural analysis, and critique; the studio creates the kind of media we believe the industry needs more of.

Once we complete the registration process and secure sustainable funding, these entities will be fully formalized as separate organizations with complementary missions.

Support Our Work

Convergence Lens Studios operates on community support as we build toward sustainable funding models. Your contributions help us:

  • Cover production costs for The New Hunters and future projects.
  • Transition from volunteer to paid cast and crew positions.
  • Invest in quality equipment and post-production resources.
  • Build infrastructure for ongoing production.

Donations currently support The Convergence Lens publication and Convergence Lens Studios collectively. Once separate legal entities are formalized, dedicated funding streams for each will be established.
